On April 26, the Swedish Travel Industry’s Grand Travel Award took place for the 29th time at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm in front of 400 people active in the travel industry. The Grand Travel Award is organized by Travel Newswhich has been the largest business magazine in the Nordic region for the travel industry since 1985.
Based on the Net Promoter Score methodology, Nordic Bench conducted the surveys behind the Grand Travel Award 2022. The surveys were conducted across eleven different supplier categories in the Swedish and international travel industry. Nordic Bench qualified 3,757 respondents who had traveled for private or service purposes.
Alternatively, travel agencies conducted 8,698 travel supplier reviews. The leisure and business traveler market ultimately gained more weight than travel agency employees calculated in each category.
After two difficult years with great challenges, Ving, for the eighth time in a row, has won the award for the best tour operator in Sweden at the Grand Travel Award. Additionally, Ving’s own airline, Sunclass Airlines, was named Europe’s Best Airline for the first time, and former Ving CEO Jan Carlzon received Travel News’ newly created honorary award for his many years working in the travel industry and for Swedish companies.
The winners in the aviation categories are:
European airline: Sunclass Airlines
In the “Best Airlines Europe” category, the following airlines were also nominated; Air France, British Airways, Finnair, KLM, Lufthansa, SAS, Swiss, TUI Fly Nordic and Turkish Airlines.
“It feels like a spade among stoats here among the nice regular companies, so it’s fun that the charter is making an entrance. It’s a bit festive, popular and crowded, but also eco-friendly and sustainable to fly charters without unnecessary stopovers.”
International airline: Emirates
“Finally the Grand Travel Award again, finally meet so many industry colleagues and finally get nominated again!”
Domestic transport: SAS
“It’s fantastic, not only to be able to stand here in the spotlight, but to win this award. We fought incredibly hard. But SAS always goes “all in”!”
