Rapid operator KL Prasarana is collaborating with BonusLink to introduce cashless payments for its services. With this agreement, commuters will be able to purchase the My50 Unlimited Travel Pass through BonusLink’s Blink app starting May 15, as well as perform other cashless transactions.
The proof-of-concept collaboration will last for three months and will be implemented at 10 selected train stations to allow users to purchase the pass through the app, including KL Sentral and Pasar Seni. Currently, the ticket can only be purchased in cash at the ticket offices at Prasarana station.
With Blink, users who have filled in the registration information can purchase a My50 pass e-voucher on the app, but they will still need to go to one of the ticket offices at the selected station to redeem it. During the promotion period, BonusLink users can also get up to 40% discount when paying for the travel pass with a Visa card.
President and CEO of Prasarana Group, Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said that if user response is encouraging, the system will be implemented at all train and bus stations in Rapid KL. He also mentioned that the company was looking to collaborate with more apps to expand its digitization efforts, including e-wallets.
