KUALA LUMPUR, November 22 – Prasarana Malaysia Berhad today launched the Malaysia Travel Pass to encourage more Malaysians to use the public transport system through the Klang Valley available from December 1.
Launching the event, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Malaysia The Travel Pass – which would cost RM15 – would allow four people from the same family unlimited daily access to ride the LRT, MRT and monorail, as well as the BRT Sunway line on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
“Public transit also plays an important role in the success of Malaysia.
“Besides being a tool to unite all races in the country, it also serves to drive the economic growth of the country,” he said in his speech at the launch of the travel pass here at KL Sentral.
Prasarana chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim said the Malaysia The Travel Pass initiative also aims to help boost the Malaysian economy by encouraging Malaysians to use public transport and spend at shopping malls on the Prasarana rail and bus network.
“We also hope that the Travel Pass will encourage domestic tourists to use available public transport to explore all the interesting places in the Klang Valley and at the same time help the city’s small business economy get back on its feet.
Jamaludin said at the same time that Prasarana’s subsidiary, Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd, also launched the transit package for small and medium enterprises.
“Details of this package will be announced shortly and are expected to start operating in March 2022,” he said.
