Singapore Airlines Successfully Implements IATA Travel Pass Pilot


Singapore Airlines has successfully implemented the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Travel Pass mobile app pilot on its flight to London, UK.

The implementation follows the platform’s first full rollout with the carrier earlier this month.

As part of the trial, Singapore Airlines offered passengers traveling from Singapore to London the chance to participate in the pilot between March 15 and March 28.

The first traveler using the IATA Travel Pass app arrived at Heathrow Airport in London on March 17.

The ticket is designed for digital health verification and stores passenger health information, including whether they have had virus tests or vaccinations.

Travelers can use the pass to create a secure digital version of their passport on their mobile phone, enter flight details for all travel restrictions and requirements, and receive verified test results and confirmation required for travel.

IATA Director General and CEO Alexandre de Juniac said, “The successful implementation of the IATA Travel Pass in this trial with Singapore Airlines passengers demonstrates that technology can help in a safe, convenient and efficient way for travelers and governments to manage travel health documents.

“The importance of this for restarting international aviation cannot be overstated. It gives travelers a one-stop-shop to help them comply with the new travel rules. And it is a means specially designed for airlines manage new travel requirements without drowning in inefficient and inefficient paper-based processes.

Last month, IATA partnered with the government of the Republic of Panama and Copa Airlines to pilot the IATA Travel Pass.
