SEOUL, July 26 (Korea Bizwire) – A The South Korean travel agency is launching so-called “COVID-19 vaccine tours”.
Healing Vacation, a travel agency specializing in the Americas, presented a travel package last Friday that includes receipt of a Janssen vaccine from Pfizer Inc. or Johnson & Johnson in the United States.
With this package, travelers can receive one or two injections of the vaccine and return to South Korea. They will be exempted from a 14-day quarantine upon their return.
The “Vaccine Tour” for Pfizer vaccines is a 27-day travel package. The Janssen vaccine plan includes 12 travel days.
The Pfizer vaccine package costs 15 million won (US $ 13,000), while Janssen’s package costs 9 million won.
These packages have received mixed reactions from the tourism industry, as most of the country’s elderly have already been vaccinated.
Some even wonder if there is anyone right now willing to pay exorbitant sums to go on long-term travel as the country now schedules vaccine appointments for people in their early fifties.
Others, however, say there could be demand from richer couples who plan to travel abroad for their honeymoon.
“Many couples are concerned about their honeymoons,” said a source from a travel agency. “The Janssen Tour might appeal to some wealthier couples.”
