It will target new hires at the Birmingham Careers Fair on April 8 as the travel industry recovers from the pandemic.
Your Co-op Travel, part of the Midcounties Co-operative, has 76 travel agencies across England, 19 of which are in the West Midlands, including Aldridge, Bilston, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Dudley, Halesowen, Kingswinford, Sedgley , Stourbridge, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Wednesbury, Wednesfield and Wolverhampton.
Despite concerns over the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the rising cost of living, holiday bookings have remained strong and steady since the lifting of the government’s strict travel testing measures in January.
Your Co-op Travel’s average weekly sales from January to March increased 107% from the prior quarter.
More than 75% of bookings taken in March were for spring and summer holidays, indicating a demand for holidaymakers to get away as soon as possible after two years of closure.
Your Co-op Travel will speak to potential applicants at the Birmingham Careers Fair, which will take place at Jury’s Inn Broad Street from 10am-2pm.
Positions available include travel counselors and assistant travel managers, as well as roles for trainee travel counselors looking to cut their teeth in the travel industry.
Natalie Turner, Branch Manager for Your Co-op Travel, said: “With travel back on the agenda, there has never been a better time to join the industry. Our travel branches are getting busier and we are looking to welcome new travel experts to the Your Co-op family, to help meet the vacation demand of our customers and members.
“The careers fair will be the perfect opportunity for us to talk to people who are passionate about travel, who have worked in travel before or who want to join this dynamic and friendly industry, about our current vacancies, how to apply and all the benefits that come with being part of a co-operative society.
